INTERNATIONAL CIRCUS FESTIVAL 2024

From January 19 to 28, 2024, the Principality will host the 46th edition of the International Circus Festival and the 11th edition of New Generation under the most famous of big tops. The best international acts come together on the stage of the 2nd smallest country in the world, offering a spectacle of global scope.Transmission of a passion for the circus In 1974, Prince Rainier III of Monaco, a great circus fan, created the 1st International Circus Festival of Monte-Carlo to support the traditional circus and circus families. Since then, it has become one of the most prestigious global events, attracting large numbers of spectators and being broadcast around the world.The love of the circus is passed down from generation to generation, and in 2005, Princess Stéphanie became President of the largest Circus festival in the World. She is also Honorary President of the World Circus Federation, which represents circuses and circus schools around the world, preserves the values and traditions of Circus Arts, and promotes their development.Competition in the spotlight Under the famous Monaco big top, discover an exceptional circus show featuring the best international acts. Every year, jugglers, magicians, clowns, tightrope walkers and animals take turns for 10 days for ever more impressive performances. The ultimate goal is to win the highest distinction in Circus Arts: the Golden Clown!Originally, only gold and silver clowns were awarded at the start of the festival. In 2002, due to the importance and quality of the acts presented, the bronze clowns were introduced.In 2012, the tradition continued with H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie and her eldest daughter Pauline Ducruet who launched New Generation, a festival dedicated to young artists. Pauline assumes the role of President of the International Jury. The circus remains a family, creating a unique atmosphere where magic mixes with joy, laughter, emotion, dignity and respect for authenticity. Each year, the Festival and its participants continue to capture the imagination of young and old.
